Journal tomhudson's Journal: Why is Peter Alexander Kowalski looking for a botnet? 79
APK (the "hosts file spammer") has spent more than a decade trying to get people to depend on his "hosts file solution" to counter malware and viruses.
Here he is spamming the register over Windows 7 release parties, of all things. Just one of many examples you can find.
Why does he do it? Well, let's consider some facts.
First, a hosts file does not protect you.
Second, if you depend on it for protecting your computer, you're a nice target of opportunity.
Third, it's possible to determine if someone is using his hosts file by serving some javascript to any client machine that visits.
Now, couple that with his most recent stupidity - claiming I run a botnet because I worked for the Russians for 3 years, and trying every which way to goad me into giving him access. Is he misinterpreting my references to Soviet Kanuckistan?
Maybe DHS would be interested in having a talk with the misogynistic pig. After all,he's admitted he wants access to a botnet.
Just remember, if you reply to him, do so anonymously. It drives him nuttier than he already is - and if you reveal your account, he'll stalk you too. He's already posted 38 anonymous messages in the last day and a half - with about half of them being in the last few hours.
