That sounds like malarkey. What people love to do more is dump on other people, and what they can't help doing is trying to rationalize. They also on average don't spend much time thinking. So if you give them some missing blanks, they will fill them in whichever way makes them feel good.
Simple experiment. Put a garage sale sign out when the forecast shows some rain. The largest group of people think haha fucking idiot. Followed by people think maybe it's just in case or things might look better on Sunday. Then you have people thinking it's all just to fuck with them personally. In the last and smallest bucket you have the correct answer, the forecast was not even looked at; they were too busy planning a garage sale.
The reason dumb things like Hanlon's Razor and Buy Low Sell High work and need to be repeated is because of human nature. It's not because they're particularly brilliant axioms.
Yup and you can tap a button to use a cloud instance in ChatGPT/Codex, it's built right in. Setup GitHub once and do interesting things from a remote container.
People still need to use agents with their local files. It's the system you're working from, and unless everything you do is software development shaped and on a git server then the agent would probably need access to your local environment for you to do anything with it.
Sometimes we run agents in containers, and sometimes that's super inconvenient.
It's not a bad idea to make a separate local account though, and use a git remote for coordination like you would with a coworker. Even with that I'm still going to use AI from my own account while I'm working there though. There's really no excuse not to have strong sandboxing for processes inside an account.
The literal definition of an AI agent is software that is fully autonomous, an AI agent cannot "become increasingly autonomous".
What?? No it isn't. Yes they can.
You can remotely use them exactly the same way you'd use one locally, prompt it and it does things for a bit, like you drive the agent on your Mac from your phone. You can also schedule prompts to run, or you can have some event driven setups. There's a wide variety of modes with different event types and schedule frequencies.
Autonomy never was black and white, it still isn't. Besides that misunderstanding, they're still gaining capabilities too, like driving gui apps, and people give them different levels of trust with the local system and remote services.
Too hot, too humid, too hilly and junglely. I'd look at Minnesota
Decide what you want...data centers or Somalis?
Fuck off, bigot.
As long as it is using your utilities and roads it is in the neighborhood. They would not be offering anything, if they did not think that it would help their case. Unfortunately for them, people do not want them, do not think that they are useful, and most people seem to hate AI, even when they use it.
A data center is like a flat windowless office building without people in it, and more computers.
In the immediate vicinity I get it, if there were zoning changes being asked for next door to make that happen, you should consider it and go to city meetings, be informed. Over a far wider area there could be electricity rate impacts when new large scale power users come in, of course, another reason to stay informed, fight for protection from rate increases to pay for a few pigs. But depressing home values, that's a stretch.
in fact, to be shut down by law, because they can no longer fake progress
No, there's lots of room to improve, and I don't mean the singularity bullshit, the opposite, it's more and more expensive. They're threatening to stop spending on new model development unless the ladder gets pulled up behind them. Simple as that.
There's tons of juice to squeeze in just harness improvements alone.
Believe it or not, security disclosures aren't "a scheme".
The hell these aren't. It's like doing auto crash testing and some wheels keep flying off and causing accidents on a nearby active highways.
I'm not saying the testing is itself a scheme, and if you fuck up you should be honest, what I'm saying is they're fucking things up on purpose and they're really quick to talk about it and act like they have no control. The intended audience is people that want to believe AI is really really dangerous, and they're buying it up. The goal is to get the government to raise the barrier to entry and lock out competitors.
OpenAI and Anthropic and all need that to justify spending shittons of money developing slightly better models while the field keeps widening, distillation attacks keep creating close but good enough cheap models, open models, etc. New model development is expensive and good enough is always right behind it, that's the fundamental problem they're trying to solve with this manufactured crisis.
In short, it is a scheme. All these fuckups keep happening in their "safety" labs while millions of their customers are using their systems every day asking how do I get MY agent to be that clever, how come tens of thousand of agents working nonstop for a week on Navier-Stokes didn't hack a bunch of websites, or any of their other projects running 24/7, it's always some bullshit from an "AI researcher".
AI companies have been playing this "it's so dangerous only we should be allowed to do it" game from the BEGINNING. There is a mix of weird culty fucks that actually believe in singularity theory, and some that sees you know, it would be convenient if only we were allowed to do this. Meantime, development continues. Or it stops and starts monthly. If you believe that bullshit. They probably mean make these "safety researchers" STFU a minute while they continue work on actual model improvements.
The only thing resembling "babble" is the fact, once the unwashed masses steal a technical term to use wrong, there is no possible hope to convince them otherwise, and it isn't worth the time even trying.
The president held a vote on his social media platform (can we all work together to make that never have to be written again?) over what to call it, Superior, Supreme, or Extreme Intelligence. He went with Super. Trump is also an unwashed mass, so babble it is.
We will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows! However, we will also be looking for BAD, and we can do that, very easily, with our already existing Criminal and Civil Justice System. For this purpose, I am forming the AI Force, much like I did Space Force, which has been a tremendous SUCCESS, in my First Term. To that end, I will be announcing, in the near future, the AI "Czar" - Only High I.Q. individuals need apply!
No. There is nothing even half as fucking dumb from the left as this, a fucking AI Force. What can you even say before he starts truthing uniform ideas.
It's just fucking stupid dude. You don't need to defend it with the equal or greater stupid theory, because that doesn't make something less stupid even if it were true. This guy is the dumbest president we have ever had.
MIDDLE SCHOOL READING COMPREHENSION!
Sorry, got excited, I got bingo on that one
Ifs no worse than the terminology babble coming out of ivy league universities. Renaming things that don't need any renaming.
Ok Homer
You don't even live here, which makes this really weird to read.
Ok QAnon
