Since all major security companies have links with each other and with government security agencies, sharing threat evidence to find counters, Kaspersky's defense seems valid. but if you want it, be prepared to buy it off their own website. Best Buy will give purchasers 45 days to take another product free if they want.

There's a story up on Reuters today saying Dell and its founder and just-departed CEO face a class-action lawsuit for finagling the books to hide under-table money from Intel. The hidden cash, up to a quarter-billion dollars a quarter, is alleged to have been paid to keep competing CPUs out of Dell PCs. Dell, of course, is handing out faded spirit duplicator press releases saying they don't comment on pending litigation. Accountants PriceWaterhouse are also named. Deep-linking apparently isn't permitted there, but here's where I found it, anyway.

Whether this is claimed to be "advertising channel participation" or not, lot of piling-on lately against Dell since they stopped setting the pace for the stock market. To be determined is how much of it is overdue, and how much is saturation of the sales channel... and how much is investors who believe "the stock never goes down."
