Journal stoolpigeon's Journal: The Bucharest Meetup 3

Well, Saturday The Fun Guy and I tore up Bucharest. I mean we just rocked that city like a couple middle aged dads would. Maybe it wasn't crazy but it was fun. We met up, grabbed a couple quick gyro type sandwiches and then toured the Palace of the Parliament. It's really, really, really big. It is full of marble, crystal and quite a bit of fabric as well as some large rugs. I found it all to be quite impressive and TFG and I both agreed we really wouldn't make good evil dictators as we couldn't imagine the ego it would take to build something like this for ourselves.
 
Dinner was at Caru Cu Bere (That link is to a google image search - check out how beautiful that place is.) This took longer than anticipated, then there was a hustle on my part to try to make my train, which failed. I missed it by a few minutes, so I booked a different train home the next day and crashed at a hotel across the street.
 
So - The Fun Guy - who if you've interacted with him much here, is pretty much the same awesome and, well, fun guy that he is here. He's good to know if for nothing else because it means you get to use sentences that start with the following, "My friend, a scientist with the US government..." I love saying that. But it was an altogether great time. I'm very glad we were able to hang out a bit. I've met up with 3 dotters now and it's always been pretty cool, a recommended activity if you have the chance.
 
On a side note, I took the overnight train from Budapest to Bucharest and back. I booked a sleeper berth. I've never done that before. It was super cool. There are some amazing views as the train passes through the Romanian mountains. I got a glimpse of the Romanian country side and all in all found it to be a great adventure. Now to figure out a reason to swing through Luxembourg.
