I'm with you all the way on that. I don't want to draw false equivalence. There are however unfortunate ways in which they are exactly the same, and they are not positive. The corporatocracy is based on extractive and unsustainable actions which make the world a worse place for everyone, even the upper scum. They wind up with fewer days fit for yachting.

Other people don't bother, and just paint the outside. It works, but not a "true" vintage PC restoration.

There is no such thing as a true vintage restoration. You cannot restore the chemicals in the plastic, by definition you are not changing it back to how it was. But if you are uncasing it, painting the case well, and allowing the paint to cure fully before reassembling it, then you will wind up with a result that cannot reasonably be distinguished from the real thing — especially since there are no pristine examples of the real thing any more since they are all age-affected.

If someone made new reproduction cases, you could do a "true" restoration with them. Everything else is just one band-aid or another. And even a reproduction case would have to be modified from the original materials in order to not just have the same problem again.

And to those saying you need two hands to drive, obviously you have never driven a stick.

That's why I need two hands to drive. My hand is not usually on the stick, except when I'm in traffic. On the highway the wheel moves around enough that it's wise to use both hands to manage it, thanks to the amazing quality of American roads. This is not difficult, especially when using both hands, but it does require constant corrections. So either I need both hands so I can have one on the wheel and one on the stick, or I need both hands so I can have them both on the wheel, in order to drive safely.

Ha! You should switch at a Mazda. They got it soooo right with the current 3. The central screen is reasonably sized; big enough but not huge. And it's not a touchscreen! They put in this wheel thing that you can spin, shift from side-to-side, and press down, to control CarPlay.

That's great for media, but garbage for any other kind of input. Is it really not a touch screen, or does it just have an additional control method? If it's the latter that's great, if it's the former you're celebrating poor usability.

Cap and tax would reduce carbon emissions. Cap and trade does not.

You don't seem to be reading serious articles if your conclusion is that we should do something worthless.

There were no electable options which didn't support the corporatocracy. We all voted for it, and though some indeed didn't realize it, many did. You can see some of them gloating over their own impending demise here on a regular basis.

Anyway I'm completely in favor of Nazi dickface Felon Husk being separated from Tesla and it succeeding, but there is absolutely zero reason why it is inconsistent to oppose that while they provide the bulk of his paper value that he borrows against. The dangers of fascism are more immediate and therefore of even greater concern than those of AGW, especially given that fascists are not known for their positive environmental action. The net impact of supporting a ketamine-fueled eugenicist merely because you are pro-EV is obviously negative, especially since Tesla is far from the only game in town today.

While Tesla is still using mostly NCM batteries in US vehicles when they could all use LFP? No it fucking well was not.
