Journal sillypixie's Journal: They did it! 12
5:02am. 7lbs 10oz. Girl. 3 hours of solid pushing.
That was the most incredible thing I have ever participated in. I never knew how strong my sis was until tonight. Her hubby was so concerned for her, the blood & other stuff didn't even register.
Can't say anything more yet - but once I go home and sleep FOREVER I'll try and be more coherent at some later date.
I have new respect for the hardiness of our species.
The baby is the most beautiful, fragile, alien creature I have ever seen. Oh and really, really pissed about stuff (-:
Thanks all...

The funniest thing is the kid looks soooo fragile, but is more flexible and hardy than you can possibly imagine.
Hopefully you got to hold her(him?) for a while after the birth. Cause she'll be asleep most of the next few weeks
Congrats!

When you hear a baby's heartbeat inside you so strong and fast and so early, you realize that there's a force there, definitely alive -- and then it GROWS! It's amazing.

My first nephew turns a year old next week. My second nephew turns a month old later this month. (grin) I get to see my new nephew shortly for the first time. (We don't all live in the same place.) No nieces and no sisters ... and they say the GUY determines the gender. (grin)
Sounds like an awesome experience. It's great that you were able to be there.

I just checked the origin of that last and found it was from Pudd'nhead Wilson and is 110 years old this year. May we all live to be as old, especially the new little one.
