Journal sillypixie's Journal: Sled Pics! 5

Sorry this has taken so long...

The new sled is amazing. It has way better suspension than my old machine, plus a longer track - so the bumps are much less bumpy :)

I'm still feel a little weird though. It's like changing from riding a hog to riding a crotchrocket. I know that eventually I'll be able to do much more with it, but right now I feel like if I got into a situation where I had to react fast, I might do the wrong thing.

Still, I can lift one ski off the ground by standing up and rocking from one side to the other - something I could never do on the old machine. That kind of nimbleness will pay off, just as soon as I learn how to leverage it :)

Here are pics: one, two, three
And the obligatory beautiful mountain shot from the weekend: pretty, huh?

  • That must be so nice. We used to have seasons here in New York. Now we just have Summer for 6 days and Kindafall the rest of the year.
    • It is very nice. The best days are the ones where you wake up and everything is socked in and grey, then you hop on the sleds and ascend through the cloud deck until you're on a peak looking down onto a sea of clouds, with brilliant blue sky above you... It is breathtaking when it happens.

Most of the time it makes up for the snow shovelling and windshield scraping :) I don't know why people who don't do winter sports live here though. Sheer stubbornness perhaps.
  • Looks nimble. It's been a very long time since I've been on one of those things.

Of course, you need snow to use them. And guess what! There is snow in Dallas today. :-)
  • But you could have stayed out a bit longer, I still had twelve Thai restaurants to check.

He who has but four and spends five has no need for a wallet.

Working...
