My vote is still for OkCupid. I met a couple really great people on there that I am still friends with today, and I met my current partner of over two years through a volunteer organization one of the aforementioned people I met on OkCupid introduced me to. I would guess that, like me, most slashdot users would be more interested in the scientific approach that a site like OkCupid takes rather than profile/picture system most sites use.

This is exactly what I did. I bought the XP based Asus eee 1000h and wiped XP off of it for Ubuntu before I even saw the EULA. Nearly all of the manufacturers seem to ship a feature rich XP model or a Linux one with half the battery life and RAM, no bluetooth, and 1/10th the HD space. Seems like apples to oranges to me.

Submission + - Universal and Sony Plan "Free" Music Servi (macworld.com)

Damon Tog writes: Macworld reports that Universal Music Group (UMG) has "enlisted" Sony to join forces in a new music service. The price of the subscription is expected to be built-in to the cost of digital music players, leaving the music "free" to the consumer. In other news, I have a $100 pencil that I need to sell. If you buy it, I will also throw in tickets to see Van Halen.

Interestingly enough, I recently wrote an editorial for the University of Arizona's "Arizona Summer Wildcat" regarding the topic of violence in video games after watching the "60 Minutes" segment on Grand Theft Auto. I agree with the masses that violence in video games does not correlate to violent behavior, and instead, those particular individuals were predisposed to commit such crimes.
