Is it just me that sees it as a tad ridiculous that the leaders of these companies need external regulations to avoid safety issues? To me it seems like they're trying to find someone else to blame when what they're developing turns into a problem. As leaders they should be accountable to ensuring the proper safeguards are in place and responsible if they fail in that regard. No regulation required if they do their jobs.

Just think about what's going on today that you won't hear anything about until 50 years from now.

I'm cracking up because they do seem to be everywhere right now. But whether the popularity and exposure is manufactured or not the talent is certainly there. That guitarist is an absolute pedal wizard. And the drummer is pretty fantastic too.

Not everything in the 80s was synths and drum machines. The Smiths, The Cure, Echo And The Bunnymen, Simple Minds, XTC, Midnight Oil. There were a lot of good bands that used real instruments. Not saying there isn't a place for bands like Depeche Mode, New Order but it wasn't all like that.

No, the slop part is in the submitting. Linus has even talked about it. Multiple people submitting the same bugs often times without vetting is it a bug, why is it a bug, what's the resolution to the bug. 1000s of people submitting bugs like this does not make things better. It makes it a maintenance nightmare to wade through all of that.... slop.

To me the time is just a number. I think it'd solve a lot of problems to just adopt UTC world wide. It'd be an adjustment at first, but eventually everyone would get used to sunrise and sunset being at their regional time and we could focus on things that matter.

The real reason is because they don't want any record of their factual inaccuracies.

As long as scalpers are essentially tolerated the behavior won't stop. If they started seriously cracking down the risk vs reward wouldn't be worth it. Long jail sentences. Asset forfeiture. And pay it back to the people they ripped off. Not just line the government's coffers. They'll go after Napster users for downloading music, but concerts are usually an artists main source of income. If they could get the scalpers out of it I'll bet the ticket sales would be a lot higher.

The big problem with AI as I see it is you have to tell it very specifically what you want. Leaders often know the outcome they want but not how to get there. AI can weigh pros and cons if you give it a comprehensive list, but it can't replace the experience gained over years and help identify blind spots to keep leadership out of trouble. I think it probably will take place in some companies. Within 6 months after several bad decisions based on AI the board is going to say "this isn't working out" try to hire back staff again and likely run into some very tough problems. Potential candidates will know what your previous staff was worth to you. Would you want to plant your flag there? In my view this winds up being a very big stumbling block for the companies that adopt the idea completely. It's fine to use AI to make workers more efficient and provide better answers, but wholesale replacement? From what I've seen we're a long way from there yet. And Andrew Yang lives in a beautiful fantasy of his own making. The rich don't want to take care of the poor now. But they're going to be on board with UBI for 90% of the workforce? I sincerely doubt that. If you look at all those people pushing it they're the wealthy who will never have to rely on their little experiment. All one needs to do is look at welfare, the projects, and all of the other "assistance" the government provides. Sure it's helpful to those who need it, but it's broadly abused and doesn't fully meet the need. UBI would be that on steroids.

The studios would have to agree to it. I'm not sure why they'd do that. It's not in their best interests. On the positive side it will leave a lot more time for self important celebrities to get out into the world and physically contribute to the causes they care so much about. I'm looking forward to seeing well known faces downtown feeding the homeless and caring for the elderly. Risking their lives in foreign countries to take care of the disadvantaged people there. It will be very inspiring.
