Journal shepd's Journal: I have a stalking fan, it appears! 19
Update: Well, it's all over now. Everything has been dealt with, and life goes on. I want to thank everyone who posted here with support and suggestions, and I now consider this matter a closed case
Again, thanks for noticing and everyone on slashdot: Don't let the bastards get ya down!
----
Well, it had to happen sometime, I suppose.
I don't have a clue what he's talking about, though. What the hell is Rose-Hulman, and where did he get the idea that I'm going to a US college?
Interesting that someone would make it their job to anonymously stalk me. I just want to take this moment to let them know I'm not at all interested in having a relationship with them, not matter what their personal feelings are for me.
I truly hope this isn't some form of jealous retribution from someone whom I may have earlier surpassed in number of comments.
Just FYI, it's been my experience that most posters on slashdot are Men. I should let you know right now I'm not gay and have no interest in pursuing a gay relationship with you. And if you're a woman, and only if you're hot, I might go for a one night stand. But realize I won't pursue a lasting relationship with a stalker -- it's too dangerous.
I do appreciate the custom crafted troll, though. Thanks for the thought.

Yeah. I think I have found the one "flame" button trolls have... They _really_ hate it when someone can post a _lot_ of relatively ontopic and useful information. My whole guess is since it's their goal to make this place as useless as possible, and keep the place offtopic, that they can't handle someone who posts so much that they could probably single-handedly put all of the trolls out of their misery.
Or maybe it's that time I was in the slashdot troll chatroom -- or the fact I know (or, sadly, it's now knew) a few of their "secret" posting weapons.
Who knows...
>Anyway, I would recommend ignoring like the above article suggests.
Perhaps you are right. But I have a feeling that my personal attitude in general is what angers them and that unlike regular trolls, these trolls aren't going to go away by being ignored. You don't get a lot of trolls that go through the effort to get an account and abuse it's moderation rights just to get back at one user (look at the previous moderations in this thread -- 3 of them happened at the same time, the other two 1/2 hour later). Of course that I did mention to CmdrTaco, who is currently investigating the situation.
I truly hope these stalkers don't get too personal. The laws in my country against stalkers are quite vicious, not to mention extradition treaties are nearly worldwide. I wouldn't want to meet one of these low-lifes in court.
Ho hum. Just another day at slashdot, I suppose.

I don't know. The last time I seriously pissed someone off on slashdot was fmaxwell [slashdot.org] (and it wasn't on purpose, just a discussion that got out of hand), but we sorted that out quite amicably and I am sure it isn't him (we're both on each's friends list now). Hmmm... quite a while ago I added someone to my foes list when they trolled me logged in. But they never bothered responding, so I really doubt that's the guy.
The only thing that ever really pissed ACs off (in general) was my old sig (which will go back on once the stalker disappears): "Do you have over xxxx comments? Why not?" I never figure out why that made people so mad and in another journal entry, we all had a good laugh about it. My only guess is it's that "boast but don't make it obvious or nasty" part of my personality that's set someone off. Well... I know I'm not going to change to make them happy!
I don't think I'll ever figure out who it is, and, you know what? Maybe that isn't a bad thing.
>Hey and I can tell you it's not me!
The guy only speaks as an AC anyways, so I know it wouldn't be anyone logged in. Or at least I wouldn't be talking to their evil half of their personality, anyways.
>Don't worry much about this guy, he'll probably go away...
Probably a good idea. I'm going to ignore the guy (as another poster has been kind enough to suggest) and see how that goes. But wow... if you look at this thread the guy's even taken it out in moderation. But hey, enough people here think I'm cool enough I'll make it back up in no time.

In summary: You're a pretty cool guy, which is why I added you as a friend. But please, drop the bullshit.
The guy isn't stalking you due to jealousy, he's stalking you because you've left yourself WIDE OPEN to precisely this kind of attack. This falls under the same category as black people who constantly say things like, "The reason I had to wait at Red Lobster to get seated is that I'm black." No, although someone tried this in my town recently--it's because there are people who got there first. If something is your pet cause, or your defining attribute, great! But don't blame that cause's advocacy or that attribute's existence or promotion every time something goes wrong.

But it's interesting- after my one-sided rant against moderators (I ranted, they mod'd! its in my journal if yr interested)my freaks list grew (it tripled in size!
Now 3 or 4 are the same two dudes- they're dorks and they don't like me. 1 guy has as is sig "I foe anyone who abuses the +1" and I fall in that category.
But there's one or two others who hate me and I suspect are the ones who write anonymous coward messages of hatred.
I don't get it, it's just fucking slashdot! It's a game. If you want to flame war, I'm fine with that, let's flame. But when you AC threats and don't even try to establish a dialog (and by dialog I mean even "Yuo=teh suxxors"!) it makes me think there is something wrong with you.
I guess that makes sense though... only freaks take this slashdot thing seriously.
That being said: I welcome all trolls, but please, if yr gonna try to slam me, put some thought and skill into it. I can appreciate good work even if I'm the butt of a joke.
