Comment Having left Unity, I see no reason to return. (Score 1) 29

Having used Unity for years, I switched to Bevy, but I imagine those who switched to Godot are experiencing similar joys. All those stupid bugs that you'd have to play upgrade roulette to see if they're fixed for Unity, forget that. With these open source engines, you can just fix the stupid issue and send a pull request. It's been incredibly liberating to be using an open source game engine. I'm never going back to a closed source engine. Thanks for opening my eyes, Unity.

Comment Is everyone a free speech imbecile? (Score 1) 271

That the company says it's for "free speech" because it's taking Nazi money and not requiring it to pay for moderators, both of which align with its profit imperative, is one thing. But we shouldn't accept it. It's extremely important that the government not censor speech because it has enough power to possibily achieve its aim. If Substack has standards that excludes Nazis, well, the Nazis can try and build their own platform that every right-minded person can avoid like the plague, but Substack doesn't have the power to squelch all speech it doesn't tolerate anywhere but on its own platform, which is a freedom we should also applaud; the freedom to have fuckin' standards. Don't accept their "principled stance" when it's merely a profit motive poorly reasoned and dressed up in free speech clothing.
