Isn't this broadcast flag all over again?

When you see lights in the sky, you cannot tell how far they are, and therefore you cannot tell how fast or slow they are moving. If you don't know the size of the object it's impossible to judge it's speed or your distance from it.

It's really amazing what happens when people look up and see airplanes flying at night and they think it's drones. I live in NJ and every video and/or photo I saw of a "drone" was just an airliner going to Newark airport, The news media just hyped this up for no good reason.

It irks me that people who do not understand what a job is think AI can do it. A developer probably spends about 10% of their time actually writing code. Rest of the time is spent figuring what the users need/want, or modifying/debugging existing code.

The joke is "AI will replace developers, as soon as users are able to tell it exactly what they want."

Also, wasn't COBOL, the "english-like" language, supposed to make programmers obsolete?

IMHO we should create an AI to replace VCs and CEOs - should be much easier!

A large number of Googlers want to work from the office (I'm guessing 50%+). A separate group would like to be remote most of the time. Google actually lets people become fully remote (with potential pay cuts, related to your location).

Re: productivity - Google actually made tons of money while everyone was remote, so it's not clear that productivity was less.
