I think this is one of those cases where there would be criticism with the dialects no matter what they did. There would be complaints if the dialects sounded fake and there would be complaints about it being AI. What were they supposed to do? Sure don't want to dub the voices as they did in the past. I am thinking of what happened with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Hercules years ago.

I have been using Linux for almost 20 years. I tried many different distros during that time. Right now, I have Ubuntu on a couple of computers and have no problems with updates breaking them. Yea, there are features I hated over the years but the OS continues to be dependable, When there are problems, it is usually because of something I did. I am sticking with it at this time,

as power usage by big business for their data center usage increases, there will be more brownouts and more energy alerts for the American people because there will no longer be enough to go around. It will be like what happened in Califormia with water. While the people were told to conserve water during the drought, the water bottling plants, were busy pumping away. I feel the same will happen with electricity. Big business don't care.

Comment a company should continue to provide support (Score 1) 102

that is the problem with smart devices, you are at the mercy of the company that develop them and keep them updated. You never know when support will be dropped. I have been burned several times over this. Though support for the shoes lasted longer than most, it still happened.

Just a side note, those shoes were perfect for those with disabilities, especially those with bad backs, pregnant woman, those with diabetes and more. They should have been marketed as such.

Comment I ran a bbs (Score 2) 171

I was started a bbs in 1994. There was no internet in my area and since it was a small town, had to call long distance for everything. I had accounts with compuserve, prodigy, aol and a year later, msn. It all ran up my monthly phone bills. That is what I especially remember, the high phone bills and all the subscription fees. Things just don't change.
