  • The numbers seem to be very much in Obama's favor. Instant polls after every debate have decidedly been on his side. In poll after poll, McCain is trailing Obama by an ever widening gap. Poll data on early voting in a number of key swing states shows Obama with a decisive lead and the general polls show him as having a significant lead (http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/10/obama-dominating-among-early-voters-in.html [fivethirtyeight.com]).

All indicators point to the Obama Presidency that this group fears.

    It's funny, tho

I disagree, in that I don't think the numbers well-reflect reality.

Instant polls after every debate have decidedly been on his side.

I know it's beside the point, but that shows me that people being polled don't really follow the debates very closely. The second debate in particular, McCain clearly won on points, and last night, it boiled down to who you agreed with more.

      Again: not believing.

Where "all indicators" means "untrustworthy polls," which isn't very interesting.

I found this Slate article about general Republican economic values being best served by voting Democrat to be very amusing

Yeah, this is a meme that has for some reason caught on. It makes not a jot of sense.

    • I forgot. McCain has Obama just where he wants him.

This has been a very interesting election cycle, to be sure.

Shrug. Republicans have been increasingly outpacing poll results in recent years, including in the 2004 Presidential polls (not to mention the exit polls). Gregoire was up big in 2004 over Rossi for WA governor in the polls.

And apart from the normal Dem bias in the polls, we've also got the fact that as a bona fide celebrity, people are much more likely to SAY they will vote Obama, even if they won't. Add to that the race thing, which has a similar effect, plus the fact that Obama supporters are more voc

        • I am not saying McCain will win. I am saying I do not trust the polls, which are the main evidence people use to say he won't.

Fair enough. Do you think that McCain will win the Presidency? What do you base that on?

Which I understand. As I said, "Fair enough." However, my question still stands. Do you think that McCain will win the Presidency? Who do you base that on?

The only answer I have is the one I gave.
