Tim McCarver makes me wish I were deaf
Doesn't your TV have a volume control?
    • It doesn't matter. I know he is out there and that I *might* hear him. I just see him and I cringe at the thought. I was trying not to hear him tonight between muting and fast-forwarding but on watching a replay of Manny's home run today, I caught him say -- in all seriousness -- "that ball was hit so hard it didn't have a chance to go foul."
  • Joe Buck...never [has] a single interesting thing to say.
    You mean like John Madden?
    • No. John Madden is not even close to as bad as McCarver is.
      • Then this must be serious.
        • Yes. Hence the petition.

Side note: Madden lives in the town I lived in for a bunch of years, and my parents are still there. My dad coaches tennis at one high school in town, and Madden's son's wife is the coach at the cross-town rival, and she just stole a tennis player from my dad's school (my alma mater). So I hate the Maddens even more than most people!

But I do like his video game.
  • it messes up The Simpsons!
  • Using the term "retarded" as an insult is offensive slang. If you want to be taken seriously, you should eliminate such language.
  • their number one team for football is just as horrid. Troy Aikman, and is it Joe Buck sometimes? I don't know. I just can't really stand them. But I think you're close on McCarver. Sometimes the guys just need to shuttup and try not to fill the air with a stupid comment.

Oh, while I am complaining about broadcasters, how about that ESPN sunday night crew? Mike Patrick, Paul Maguire, and Joe Theisman? Egads man. How do you people get these jobs. I keep joking with a friend that it would be totally awesome i

I hate it when Fox has the broadcast rights to M's games, the local TV station and FSNW (ironicly also owned by Fox) do a much better job.

Of course I don't listen to the stupid TV sportcasters at all but rather turn on the radio broadcast (a local station here carries all of the M's games). Heck the local radio announcers are so good people bring radios to the stadium to listen to the play-by-play while they watch the game live.

Sadly I have no such option when I want to watch non-M's games carried by Fox.

Using DirecTV and TiVo -- both of which add delay -- makes that hard. Although it also makes it easier to sync up to the MLB.com audio feed ... but then the audio feed stutters and I have to resync.

Major suckage there, at least for syncing the audio. (otoh I prefer DirectTV to Comcast and TiVo lets you skip the commercials as well as go to the bathroom without missing anything)

Yeah, I agree; that's why I got the audio package on MLB.com instead of the video package on MLB.com or DirecTV. Less money, and better. :-)

you might have left New England before Don was the Sox announcer?

Yeah. I like Don better than Sean McDonough, but I think Sean WAS better, if you get what I mean. He is a real talent, but he also annoyed me, and Don doesn't annoy me.

Remy is funny, although he can be grating too, during long games. :-)

And yeah, I saw that web site. I posted my petition on their forums page. :-)
