Comment This is not a pipe. (Score 1) 76

I have been running RC-1 since Tuesday... Mind you my install has considerable modifications, such as Eric's multilib packages, and there is some stuff I compile myself to keep on the bleeding edge. Main desktop has been on Slackware since 2006 or so. No complaints, it just works.

There are bits of ophiolites on both coasts, sometimes bits of ocean plate end up riding up instead of subducting, probably as the continent overrides the spreading ridge. I have been to the one mentioned below in Newfoundland. As an aside, many moons ago as an undergrad I invented a drink called the ophiolite belt, like a b52 with a couple extra layers.

Speaking from experience, ptarmigans take "bird-brained" to the next level. While working in the subarctic they would frequently fly into the sides of our tents. A good startle, considering that roaming bears were also in the area. They also love to burrow into snow, and pop out in a flurry when one walks a few feet away.

My data plan for the 4G home wifi hub (no cable available in this part of the bairro) has blown its cap for the last months, and I have been blaming family members for downloading YouTube videos on their cell phones. Turns out my work laptop has been downloading the Win 10 update without telling me in the background, I see the hidden folder has roughly 5.6 gB of files, so I would be blowing the cap for the next 2-3 months if this continues. (Only 2 gigs cap then it goes down to old-time dialup speeds). NOT cool.

I have a hard time getting my head around Brazilian prices. I live by -caveat emptor- . I just bought a very nice Dell monitor at pretty much the US price, processors are pretty close to par, but motherboards and videocards are close to double. Most of the kids XBOX games I bought used/from their friends, full retail is truly a ripoff. And dont get me started on car/motorcycle prices :( Need to get the boss to bank some trips out of the country again.

I too will vouch for the Senneiser HD280Pro. I bought these to replace a pair of Sony Studio Reference phones my kids got a hold of and destroyed. Isolation is good, Ive used them with my cellphone on many flights (where permitted) and long bus rides, and they block a good portion of the turbines/road noise/screaming babies while delivering pretty decent sound quality.
