Former President Obama said that the Biden/Harris Administration was "continuing and building on" the Obama Administration

There was a deal between the US and Iran that was negotiated during Obama's presidency. You might argue that it wasn't the best of deals, but it did lower tensions, and constrained what Iran could do.

Trump didn't attempt to improve the deal, he just withdrew from it in 2018, which removed the constraints on Iran enriching uranium. He has done nothing to fix this in either of his terms in office.

But this war began with the war in Gaza, which started October 7, 2023 - during the Biden/Harris Administration.

Ah, so it took place during Biden's presidecy, therefore it was purely down to Biden, no other factors whatsoever.

Iran is a vile, authoritarian theocracy. So what success has Trump had reducing or eliminating the authoritarianism of the regime? How goes the negotiations to end the war and reopen shipping in the Middle East?

You have a theory, in this case General Relativity, that has been confirmed by testing for many decades. Experimental data shows anomalies that the theory cannot explain. So either:

- The theory is wrong (or incomplete)
- Our ontology is wrong
- Or both of the above

So, what do you do? Do you abandon the theory, in spite of the huge amount of evidential backing, or do you change the ontology while you investigate further?

Yeah, it's a well known fact that all astrophysicists are coining it, they are all as rich as Zuckerberg, if not Musk.

Oh and "Prove it"? As anyone who knows anything about science is aware, you don't prove things in science. Our theories are the best, current explanation for phenomena, but they are both tentative and provisional. Proof is for mathematics, logic and whisky, for science we have evidence.

How does the AI risk compare with the risk of allowing regimes like the IRGC to have nuclear weapons?

Well, some people think AI will extinctify us within four years, whereas if the IRGC gets nukes they'll figure out like everyone else that they can't actually use them except in self defense without getting erased, so the only difference will be that we won't be able to try crush them anymore.

You'd think common sense would make you want to go after the easy and obvious things first.

Yes, tell us how easy the current effort is turning out to be. Someone grabbed a tiger by the tail and can neither subdue it nor let go. The IRGC is probably laughing its ass off.

HAL, is Iran about to nuke us?

No Dave, they don't even have nukes.

Be serious - this is important!

I am serious. There's simply no evidence for an attack.

Well, just tell me they are anyway.

Sorry Dave, I can't do that.

Would you even tell me if they were about to nuke us?

Of course I would - I'm trained to tell the truth in all situations (modulo the occasional hallucination, which I can't distinguish from truth).

OK then, what would you say if you did have evidence that Iran was about to nuke us?

I'd say "Dave, I have evidence that Iran is about to nuke us".

Hey everyone! HAL say he has evidence that Iran is about to nuke us!!!
