Maybe we'll even get a democratic system of government out of it, hard times can force people to work together on important tasks they don't have an incentive to when they're able to just cruise social media all day and get fat.

Why? What's wrong with our Constitutional Republic?

Oh, that's right.... the thing that ours isn't a Mob Rule, like so many of you want.

Sorry. It will never be, despite all the hand-wringing and tooth-gnashing from the Left.

Mob Rule doesn't end well. What we have is just fine.

In fact, we should apply the concept of Electoral College to the States, that way, the great big megalopolises cannot dictate to the rural areas what kind of government the rural areas get.

It's not perfect, we can improve it. Neutralizing the outsized bias of the Big Cities would be a great place to start. Term Limits would be a great Next Step after that.

Big energy companies don't want cheap energy sources controlled by their customers: they mess up their transports and they lower the cost of electricity and hence their profits. So they should be nationalized and treated as non-profit, with the aim of the cheapest energy possible, not the highest profit.

I tried to look at how to program quantum computers, and there are now toolsets for that although you can only run them on simulations, but it's so complex and unintuitive (that's quantum mechanics for you, ha!) that it's just impossible to grok what you have to do in order to do even the most simple tasks. Instead of being the Great Unifier, Social Media ended up being The Big Chisel: Finely crafted of the hardest vitriol, finely honed to a razor's edge by greed. A tool to split and divide.

Sometimes I get all misty-eyed for the days of One Common Dialog, which was put out by The Big Three (ABC / CBS / NBC)

Then I remember all of them lie like rugs, and Pulitzer and Hearst were the biggest liars before TV.

So yes. I hope this piece of shit is on the decline, and people think more.

Walks in parks are good. Pick up disc golfing, go for a round, that's two hours, a couple of joints, some Beethoven, and for those two hours, all is good. Until you shank one into the lake.

Not reading for fun? That's on you. My phone carries all of Harry Potter, a bunch of different, complete mangas, several tomes on hypervigilance, stress, etc, and they weigh.. nothing. I have a whole library at my fingertips on my phone, or pad.

Personal Responsibility stopped being a thing along with literacy. Everyone expects Big Uncle Government to help them out and make everything alright.

That's not how Life works.
