And while the big companies may have too many resources to migrate effectively, mid-sized companies can migrate their smaller infrastructures over more easily. It may even be best to wait until you need to order replacement hardware and then set up the replacement systems in parallel with the current system. But there's no doubt that many companies will migrate. As another poster claimed, it's all a matter of whether or not the captive customers can be squeezed hard enough to make up for the lost customers. And the likely possibility of the squeeze getting even tighter should push even more companies to consider migrating.

Wokeness has little to do with corporatism, other than the fact that both tend to be left-leaning ideologies. However, you'd be amazed at the number of anti-woke, anti-corporatists out there (many Bernie supporters fit that mold). Overall, many Dems from the 90s and early 2000s have maintained their anti-corporatist views while avoiding the quagmire of identity politics.

Those are some examples, but there are definitely more. I guess a better question is "are there any games that are considered woke that have experienced massive commercial success?" Similarly, "how many games have flopped because they're not woke enough?"

My overall point is that wokeness doesn't seem to have much, if any, positive impact on game sales, but may very well have at least some form of negative impact. Therefore, it would make sense for game developers to put less emphasis on wokeness and more emphasis on what gamers state they actually want.

I'm not trying to single you out, but I feel the need to express my extreme disdain for the growing popularity of the term "masking". I have family members with autism and while I've never been diagnosed, I would be extremely surprised if I wasn't somewhere on that side of the spectrum. My childhood was extremely lonely because I was almost completely unable to socialize with the other kids. It was an incredibly difficult ordeal, but with a lot of work over a very long period of time I was eventually able to learn how to socialize. People who didn't know me as a child are surprised to hear how different I was since I'm at a point now where I can converse with just about anyone over almost any subject. Socialization is a skill and like all skills, it comes a lot more naturally to some. But just because someone overcomes challenges that were created by some form of neurodivergence doesn't mean that they're "masking". I understand that there are appropriate uses for the term, but I often see it used in instances where it's being applied to people who have put in the work to overcome the challenges of their neurodivergence and I hope people consider this more carefully before using this term that is rapidly gaining popularity.

While wokeness is certainly not the only reason AAA games are failing, it is absolutely a large contributing factor. Gamers want to explore fantasy worlds to escape the woes of modern life and having identity politics shoved down their throats in a treasured gaming franchise is the antithesis of the desired experience. People can call gamers toxic all they want, but insulting them hasn't done anything to increase the sales of AAA games.

I think the negative associations with "Security Through Obscurity" are a bit overblown. Security Through Obscurity can be extremely effective, as long as it's combined with all of the traditional best-practices of security. Things such as non-standard usernames and ports can certainly add a useful layer of security to a system that is already well-secured. The term was meant to shame people who never implemented the traditional forms of security and operated only via obscurity.

I created a policy that does this at the organization that employs me. A PIN for a Microsoft account effectively provides almost as much access as a password, so the complexity requirements should be similar.
