In many places, there are consumer laws against false advertising. Some even have teeth, and get enforced. The regulations are typically about the legality of advertising discounts, relative to what prices the items were previously listed for, for how long, and how much they actually sold for, before a discount can be legally advertised

I'll take "Places that are not the USA" for 800, Alex.

Amazon has been degrading as an easy to use and value oriented shopping platform for years. They keep trying to funnel the buyer into their algorithms, supposedly based on your past purchases but pumping their highest-margin items. Subscribe and save is fine, but it's at it's core a marketing ploy like anything else Amazon does.

Fuck Apple. They could have done this YEARS ago, with E2EE baked in but their "not invented here" approach had led us to this. Just ask IBM how that idea all worked out for them. I was never a "fanboi" per se, but there were Apple products in the distant past that I liked, and bought. The original iPods (iTunes get fucked, that was the beginning of the end) were good hardware hobbled by the aforementioned software. I will never spend another cent towards anything Apple, ever.

Now get off my fucking lawn.
