Journal nizo's Journal: Delgo (Now available on DVD) 7

Ok it wasn't as bad as I had heard it was. Granted the plot was fairly lame, though I liked the theme of the movie. And the obnoxious sidekick, blargh.

But visually this was a really well done movie, and I thought the animation was excellent for a studio that hasn't ever done a feature film before. Sadly this tanked so badly in the theaters it will probably be their last feature film as well :-(

I'd say it is kid worthy, certainly better than most of the dreck on Saturday mornings these days.

I give it 1.8 thumbs up (out of 3).

Yeah but one of them I found on the street and keep in my pocket.

      • Oh...I thought you were being like that prof I had once who once quipped (to a full class while talking about computer variable-size limitations) that he could count as high as 21 if he's naked.

[I wanted to boom out that "waa-waa-waaaaaa" sound over the PA system, it fell so flat.]

  • Never even heard of it. That must have been a helluva tanking.

Which does make one wonder... Since the studios are arguing that movies like LoTR and Spiderman didn't make money, does that mean that a movie like this must have made money?
    Freaky.

No this one lost even more money :-)

You didn't hear about it because it was put out by some studio you never heard of, and you forgot that I posted about it before :-D

  • I was really stoked to see this - but by the time I had a free day it wasn't showing anywhere. It must have been in and out of theaters in a flash. I ended up going to see Earth [imdb.com] instead - which was cool but I'd been really excited for Delgo.

It is worth a rental, and I wouldn't worry to much since I don't think the big screen would have added much.

IF I HAD A MINE SHAFT, I don't think I would just abandon it. There's got to be a better way. -- Jack Handley, The New Mexican, 1988.
