Journal nizo's Journal: Am I the only one who does this? 25

Sometimes when I discover a new song I really like, I want to listen to it over and over (like an endless loop). Eventually I will go back to listening to multiple songs, but is this strange? (Or Crazy ala Gnarls Barkley, which is the current one going around and around in my head).

My son drives me crazy cause he plays the same song even longer than I do, and I'm pretty hardcore myself ...

But then you get burnout, and that's no fun ...

  Well, I still like to listen to them again later; probably the only CD I can't listen to is the very first one I bought (back in.... 96 or so). Then again, so much time has passed I probably COULD listen to it again now (I know I still have it somewhere).

      Def Leppard's Hysteria. Man I just played it over and over and over (but mostly because it was the only CD I had, and all the rest of my music was in transit anyway). I've still got it around here somewhere, and I could probably tolerate it again now that it has been so long (last played about 15 years ago) :-)

True story: I caught the video for Jimmie's Chicken Shack's "Do Right" on MM one late night before going to bed. The next day, not only is the song stuck in my head, I am yelling the chorus over and over whenever I have a free moment. I had the CD in my hands that evening.

You aren't alone, I find myself doing this a lot with a new track or even older ones that really hit home. The last one was The Exploited's "I Never Changed".

Even the best stuff doesn't stand up to more than one play for me.
I can do some Joe Satriani, e.g. "Chords of Life" more than once, but he's a rare exception.

There are a few songs that I will hit the repeat button for two or three plays whenever they come up. New songs that I really like will get a substantial repeat (more then ten times through, probably), until I decide that I want to move on. Typically, by that time I will be able to sing along with most of the lyrics. :-) Not that I inflict that on anyone - it's more of a drive-time thing. :-D

The latest was Told You So by The Guggenheim Grotto.

Occasionally, I'll replay a song, but only once, not over and over again.

However, for a full album, sometimes I'll play the same album several days on the run.

But for me, it is not typically one song I play over and over but a particular band. Just like I recently saw Michelle Branch in concert a week or two ago, so I have been listening to alot of her stuff again since then.

Definitely, though not too often. Mostly in the car, though, not so much in other venues. I do it more with whole albums, though.
