Comment Re:VPN's are NOT safe (Score 2) 44

Frankly I don't care if my VPN is watching the traffic I route through them. What I care about is that the MPAA/RIAA and my ISP aren't.

This serves to prevent my ISP from shaping my traffic or throttling/blocking things they dislike, and makes sure I don't get hit with a 5 billion dollar lawsuit for downloading a 10 dollar movie.

It also makes switching my external IP address because of geoblocking bullshit far simpler.

Anything that needs proper security I'll do through a combination of TOR, TAILS, wardriving, etc. depending on what level of security I need. A VPN is basic security for basic needs.

From all I've heard RMS has some moderate to serious mental illness to go with his genius. At what point do we admit that just because he's famous doesn't mean he's not fucked in the head, and cut him some slack for things he can't help.

And if someone claims he's not mentally ill, well then I'm Santa the magic space donkey delivering hee-haws to asteroid farmers.

No, they are technical definitions from the same era that describe differing degrees of the same thing, said being mental retardation. While there are older definitions for idiot, they were not technical definitions. Moron was a word specifically created having a technical definition.

"Idiots.—Those so defective that the mental development never exceeds that or a normal child of about two years.
Imbeciles.—Those whose development is higher than that of an idiot, but whose intelligence does not exceed that of a normal child of about seven years.
Morons.—Those whose mental development is above that of an imbecile, but does not exceed that of a normal child of about twelve years.

Well, due to a combination of security through obscurity, its absurdly minuscule userbase, and general batshittery, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that TempleOS is probably more secure than any of the big players. I doubt a single piece of malware exists for it, unless you're going to count the OS itself as malware, in which case there's a certain other malware OS called Windows 10 that is probably less secure.
