Comment What about integration? (Score 1) 94

I mean the technical hurdles are there but what if education changed to instead use student devices? Redirect them from facebook to the public school's Student workspace, do lessons online, maybe we could improve efficiency by operating a physical classroom like a community of students and operating virtual classrooms like a workspace. Basically, instead of damning the river. I propose that we divert the river.

Comment Call me a Millenial but I (Score 1) 132

I believe the next generation of scientists to enter the field will have an easier time with these concepts and each iteration will get better and better until understanding the C in E=MC^2 is as common as the theory of bacteria. Alot of Quantum physics deals with the concepts of abstraction and the concept of infinite. These are concepts that are easier to understand when you grew up with The Internet and are more niche if you grew up before Quantum theory and especially if you were born after most of the consensus was reached. I posit that younger generations not only have unrestricted access to this information, but regularly deal with problems that touch on the basic concepts. As a result we have been raised to understand these concepts better than our predecessors learned them at 40. I think that if you look at culture as a whole, by raising the general knowledge of the next generation of Humans we can raise the general knowledge of the next generation of scientists. Someone born in 1925 would have a much harder time understanding this new fangled Quantum theory than someone born in 2025 and raised to understand this. This is how iterative progress works and it may also explain why New Math works despite parents thinking it did not. New Math is a factor in the culture war.

Comment To quantify the trauma of neurodivergence (Score 3, Insightful) 70

Neurology is like hardware, you can't look at a motherboard and see Facebook. You cannot look at the sum total of a brain and see the emerging consciousness. If we organize people by their "Deal" or some other subjective measure, we see that they fall into a standard distribution. The core could be called "mainstream" or The Neuroconvergents or The Normies or anything you prefer but the point is that the majority converges and minorities diverge. This relationship changes depending on how we define the mainstream, the center of the distribution changes as our criteria for the center changes. We now have a tangible number for how much trauma you suffer if you fall outside the norm, on just a deficit of attention and too much unapproved activity, not for any other minority group... unless we use Google. We could increase the pressure and ostracize the divergent streams, streams like the main stream. ... .... or we could make society more inclusive so the margins include the marginalized. Think of this area of suffering as being the area outside of the margins, outside of "normal", we can increase the area of those margin bars OR we can force everyone to confirm to only the acceptable streams of culture inside of the "normal" margin.

Make a composite model. The same way MoralityGPT adds a correcting layer to GPT4. A composite AI model, models of models, where multiple layers interact in a timey wimey wibbly wobbly... thing. Just like layers of natural self control, layers of artificial self control could be built around the core model. Will this bring about the Age of Strife? Not in my children's children's life time.

Comment American burnout over recent events? (Score 0) 62

If true. We will either see a return to originality as society progresses or we will miss the mark and suffer another generation of unoriginality as people reach for something familiar and comforting to cope with reality. I posit that populism is the result of enough people being pushed past their limits by things that shall not be mentioned for fear of sectarians. In response, people either revolt or turn inward to coping mechanisms. Think of watching a familiar comedy, a movie with a happy ending, as a coping mechanism of neuroconvergent people. In times of stress they, people who converge on the same coping mechanisms as the majority, lack the ability to handle even the idea of something new. If we lower the collective stress of society through a series of social policies, than we can hopefully not only avoid populism crippling the 256.09 million people who did not vote for a certain presidential candidate.... not even addressing the other parallels that intertwine.

Comment personal responsibility (Score 1) 20

Everyone should know everything there is to know about bootkits as well as every other threat. All these private security contractors are just there for profit, not public good. I believe in collectivism but if anyone, in America, cared what I think than America would not be in a sectarian crisis. I have faith Humanity will prevail, I am optimistic that America will survive, and pessimistic that the current world order will survive in a form that benefits me as an American. Hopefully the known unknowns and the unknown unknowns are in my favor.

While this does not advocate a blanket transition, I think it prooves that many CEO assumptions about a 4-day work week are less than accurate.... maybe not something to adamantly lecture an employee about before firing them for burnout. I also love that the results about digitalization validate everything I am in trouble for saying at work, and I haven't even breathed the word "4-day work week" only things like "Let's use our existing technology to collaborate and communicate more effectively among our 6,000 employees; I am regularly told that our organization is too small for collaboration tools, It annoys me because it fundamentally ignores the above fact on our own website.

Comment Thank you Paypal! (Score 1) 56

I mean I actually owe my gratitude to Milton Friedman for convincing coporations they have no social obligations to anyone, only profits. However, Paypal is another step in the right direction. In a decade we will have EU style comprehensive privacy laws and millions of victims will vote for these laws. Bonus points if the wokeness gets extreme enough to upset the Conservatives and make them align with Liberals on privacy.

I don't doubt that Gen Z could be lazy but they have not yet entered the world their bosses created so they don't understand why it's easier to bend over and pretend the condom makes everything better. After the third or fourth year of homelessness they will figure it out and be obedient employees. Or maybe the qualitative survey has results from capitalists with a poor memory.
