The is way more common than the average folks thinks. I have seen this time and time again in my lifetime from both victims of police abusers and police abusers boasting about their ability to do so.

Sounds like OP believes cops are like what we see on the myriad of pro-cop propaganda programs on TV for the last 50 years or has some connection to that privileged above the law class of law enforcement.

They have been trying to reach young people since they started producing FPS games back in 2000. Earlier versions 1.x and 2.x broke all kinds of records for online players, downloads and registrations. The early versions you had actually go to school in the game and pass tests to be able to play. The medic training was very informative and provided really world information that could be used offline. FPS game play but in order for your team to win, working together as a team was a must. Designed in away to reflect the Army's core values.

The 2.x number of users online and servers pretty much reflect was Call of Duty is today but they dropped the ball with new releases that were just not the same and took too long to come out. They would not need to be recruiting through COD if they just simply updated 2.x.

If they still wanted to reach the youth through gaming they should have simply improved the latest version and learned from earlier successful versions. Instead with only a few thousand left daily playing the game they gave up this year and shut down the project.

It is foolish for the Army to try to reach people through commercial games where you have no control over content and where they actually had a game that rivaled COD in users

There will be no human missions until they can work out the problems with radiation and gravity. There would need to be some breakthrough to create artificial gravity to/from Mars and while on Mars. Same goes for radiation. Otherwise you will just have people dying slow horrible deaths with a myriad of serious health problems.

So true. How many admins, including myself switched to Centos 8 and expecting to be good for x number of years only to be blindsided that support would be gone in a matter of months. That had to be the most stupid decision on their part and probably intentional to force purchase of subscriptions. Such an obviously shady tactic. I will have nothing to do with IBM/Redhat because of this tactic in the future and will never forget.

I have been a long time customer but with the catalog being weak these days and the price increase, I have been on the fence whether or not to cancel. I am not using it as much as I used to and over the last year I have also incurred a number of monthly subscription fees for other channels/services.

So if they start streaming Ads that will be the final straw causing me to definitively cancel if I have not done so already. I think my sentiments are where allot of people are right now given all the options and subscriptions we are already paying out.

Some people get burned because they did not do their research and remember people money launder and scam with paper currency as well.

Many are not mined and work wonderfully for cross border payments. If you are cross border buying services, products or sending money to loved ones it makes life a bit easier with fast transfers and low fees. For collecting donations internationally and transferring to USD is a pretty ideal use case.

There are enough stable coins out there that could easily be converted to USD on payment. No issue there. If you are accepting USD payments online, you are using energy. Many popular cryptocurrencies are not mined so there is no difference in energy usage. They should just stay away from mined currencies whose server farms are not powered by green energy if they have environmental concerns.

This stuff is obvious to anyone that has been paying attention. These people are making decisions without any clue or even the slightest bit of research. Probably just sour grapes since they did not get in early enough like their peers.

Linux Mint has been my Linux desktop for every day tasks for years and my servers are either a mix of Rocky Linux and Ubuntu.. The only reason I boot Windows 10 are the rare times I want to play games. So as far as I am concerned we are way past the year of the Linux desktop.

Sadly though every year I give gaming a shot on Linux, nope, always a mess.

Without a major breakthrough to create artificial gravity it is not worth it too terraform Mars, aside from radiation and toxic soil. An Artificial gravity breakthrough would totally change the terraforming discussion.

For now best chance would be the upper atmosphere of Venus that would provide gravity that is only slightly lower than Earth.

Not surprised considering people have spent their entire lives being conditioned by a myriad of police "entertainment", really police propaganda programming. Combine that with news media propaganda and the conditioning goes so far they subconsciously believe and behave like they are on the same team. Anything counter to that narrative of their team they feel is a threat to them so they defend it regardless that they are defying all logic in doing so.

They think they are actually making a difference for their team and subconsciously feel the people are TV are giving them a pat on the back for doing so. That is what we are dealing with in this country.
