A fleet of some 500 drives were performing a display over Melbourne's Docklands in the lead up to the FIFA Women's World Cup. About 350 of them didn't come back and are now being fished out of the Yarra River, no doubt somewhat worse for wear.
According to the operators, the drones experienced some kind of malfunction or loss of signal, which triggered a fail safe — an automated landing. So hundreds of drones landed safely... on the surface of a river!

Indigenous Australians living in remote areas have had a housing crisis for decades now. One community is addressing this by having houses created by Luyten, printed with concrete, built in their settlement. Traditional housing construction a long way from major urban centres is extraordinarily expensive and complicated. Maintenance is also a huge issue, many plumbers, electricians etc. in northern Australia find having their own aircraft is the only way to get around. Which of course adds to the costs. Hopefully this turns out to be a workable solution.

Spotted on The Registers twitter feed: Yahoo! Submission to The SEC. Summary — Most of the board are leaving including CEO Marissa Mayer, the company has been bought by Verizon, and changing it's name to Altaba Inc.
I'm old enough to remember when Yahoo was a series of directories on a University's computers, where you could browse a hierarchical list of websites by category. And here I am watching the company's demise.

I've used Thunderbird for about a decade, and Netscape Mail before that (I have an email from 1998 from Marc Andreessen, welcoming me to Netscape Email, telling me different fonts can add impact to my emails).
Thunderbird has served me well, but it's getting long in the tooth.
Given the lack of development and the possibility that it's going End of Life, what should I use instead? I have multiple email accounts and an archive of sixteen years of email. I could get a copy of Outlook, but I don't like it.
Things I like about Thunderbird:
- Supports multiple email accounts
- Simple interface
- Storage structure is not one monolithic file
- Plain Text email editor
- Filtering
Things I don't like:
- HTML email editor
- Folders are hard to change and re-arrange
