Now, that dreadful disease that's worse than any CoViD or bubonic plague has taken hold of the human race:
Greed and maliciousness disguised as unrestricted capitalism.
Add to this AI, which will have you thinking that you no longer know what is best for you; AI will know!

(We control the horizontal. We control the vertical. For the next 60...)

I digress from here.

I don't want my computer to be an ad platform; or anything other than what ... I ... configure it to be.
I don't want my phone to think it knows what I want, either.
And all that "default" shit needs to stop.
The DEFAULT should be that everything should have the "opt-in" option, and be default to OFF - unless I change it.

Meanwhile - HEY! YOU! Get off of my cloud!

Comment WTF does drug use have to do with it? (Score 1) 251

Correct me here if I deviate from facts.

SF has unreasonably high cost of living; bankrupting countless innocents, that now are doing all they can to survive.
Which includes finding ANY WiFi that they can use to TRY to pull themselves out of LIVING HELL, perhaps to find a job or suce...

Yet, drug dealers use it, too?!

What if SF were to truly work on fixing the ridiculous high cost of living there and stop creating unethical situations?

WTF is wrong with this society?!?!?!

Now imagine the human race as the monkey, and all of this unregulated technology (AI, AH (Artificial Humans)...) as the gun.

Ever hear of the book "Future shock"?

How about we allow ourselves time to catch up?!

While ads are a good way to discover potentially valuable items/services, the deeply insulting nature of the vast majority of ads makes me cringe.
Thus, I have developed a way to circumvent most ads, and tune out the rest.

The point: advertisers need to get moderate with their ads. None of the ADHD styles crap,
and none of the irrelevant references, like a car ad that hopes you think you'll acquire more sex appeal, etc...

Until all ads become harmless, I'll ignore EVERY single one.

Th "risks" line of crap is bullshit meant to con you into pay for their overpriced ink.
Because the printer market is so tightly competitive, ink is the money maker in this niche.

Yet, this is not new news.

If a company can produce equal - or better - ink at a more favorable price, it should be fully available. This is called CAPITALISM - free market.
It's not a free market if you are forcing the purchase of your product. Where are our legislators/regulators when you need them?!

Comment Kickbacks (Score 1) 296

It's not really clear that regulators have any interest in cracking down on charging dumb people extra for something they already owned and paid for. After all, ripping off gullible consumers is effectively now considered little more than creative marketing by a notable segment of government "leaders" (see: regulatory apathy over misleading hidden fees in everything from hotels to cable TV).

It's what kickbacks buy. That, and favors to your pre-owned legislator!
