I doubt we are talking an intact FTL, but even if we were the technology comparison to ours is likely near incomprehensible on the surface. We can more easily examine and dissect the materials (at least to a certain degree) with our current technology.

I agree and I think that demand is being created and will grow. There are a lot of potential opportunities as prices come down (and this is true for heavy lift/deep space as well as LEO). Still it has to materialize ...

Yes, the actual level needed to beat an average human is a rather low bar to jump over.
However, the current (public) version is still better than cruise control or nothing at all.
Eventually we will have full level 5 autonomous cars/trucks ... the getting there is the hard part -- not the technology, but the regulations/testing.

Odd isn't it that such a small car company (or even tech company if you want to call them that) has stirred such a big storm :)
By integrating technology into automobiles -- that was long overdue.

Agreed. The same things can be communicated through most any medium given the chance and too many management folks (yes, I am picking on them) are not comfortable in a remote environment. I have been work at home for most of a decade now and properly managed productivity is not a problem (knowing when to stop and break for the day can be).
