Not arguing that they seem to bury important things in strange places, but in all fairness, Device Manager is now 2 clicks (right click the "start" button and choose Device Manager) and network adapters is 3 (right click the "start" button, choose Network Connections, then choose Change Adapter Options. Or just run the applets to get right there, those haven't changed in a long time.

How can my ironic comment that mocks the previous one be called a "failed attempt at sarcasm"? That's what sarcasm is...

My bad. If I was replying to this on reddit, I would have used a /s to denote sarcasm because I don't really have faith that users there are intelligent enough to know the difference.

Yeah, this is why I hate PC games. I paid a ton for a great gaming PC, but then all the game developers make their games to run on the lowest common denominator, so they look like shit on my PC. If only there was some way for developers to allow games to adjust their settings so they run on variable hardware systems. Maybe someday.

Comment phones? idk...but a cheap tablet for schools... (Score 4, Interesting) 229

while I'm not sold on the idea that we need another phone OS, I would think the combination of a cheap tablet with an HTML5 based OS on it is a decent alternative to laptops and netbooks for elementary education purposes. Books, interactive exercises, and word-processing abilities all in one. Allow a school to run their own Google Office-style server to keep things local...could be neat (:

How The Matrix Online Went Wrong 144

As the July 31st deadline for The Matrix Online's closure looms, Gamer Limit is running a story discussing the game's shortcomings, as well as some of the decisions that led to its failure. Quoting: "I honestly thought the writers must have absolutely hated the remaining cast of The Matrix Trilogy or something, because they constantly seemed to go out of their way to phase out existing characters in favor of newer ones. The cast overall basically made me, as a player, feel distant from the main storyline and made the entire game feel like a Matrix side story instead of the continuation it was meant to be. ... When MxO first launched there was an entire team dedicated to playing the game as Agents and other key characters as a means to further in-game events and directly interact with players, giving players the feeling that they truly were making a difference. After the SOE buyout of the game the LESIG team was reduced to playing minor characters before eventually being phased out and replaced with a Live Event Team (LET) comprised purely of volunteers."

Console Port of The Witcher On Hold 23

Several sources are reporting that work on The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, a console port of the popular PC game, has officially been suspended. CD Projekt, makers of the original game, were working with WideScreen Games on the new version. WideScreen says that CD Projekt missed a significant payment for their role in the development, leading them to stop work on the game. They are emphatic that development won't continue until CD Projekt makes good on the debt, but CD Projekt says, "All payments were done on time according to milestone plan. ... Truth is that payments were later than originally planned but this was solely due to delays in production. The delays were growing in the project due to WSG [continuing] to miss the deadlines." The game's future is uncertain.
