I totally agree with you. Ages ago I was carrying around an iPod touch and a small flip phone. Bizarrely enough, I need to replace both at the same time. I did the math and instead of getting two devices I paid $100 more and got an iPhone 5c. To me, this extra amount was justified. Except now...

iPad mini ($600) + iPhone 17e ($700) = $1300. So that's $700 more for the convenience of carrying around the new flip phone.

Except, for $600 Apple will sell you a refurbed MacBook Neo. I think that puts the price gap into perspective.
