And costs you a hundred bucks a year in dropped groceries because the bags tear. Single-use plastic didn't become popular because it was cheap. It became popular because it was better than the alternative. Want to get consumers to switch willingly? Make something that's better, or at least as good, without the environmental impact.
Single use plastic became popular because it's cheap, otherwise it wouldn't be here. If you make it non-free, people won't use them. Just tax it, like the EU.
To claim there's nothing wrong with these kind of plastic bags and that numbers aren't significant is BS; the EU alone had 100 billion plastic bags in 2019. An astonishing reduction afterwards rather than growth. This is big stuff.
And there is something better, like reusable plastic or natural fiber bags, but they aren't as cheap.
For every piece of plastic dumped some part ends up in our ecology. It's wasteful and completely unnecessary, why not address it where it can be easily fixed?
The boomers who retire do not have the same jobs they started with.
Most physical work is low-payed and has been exported to the East and we got service jobs like management, accounting and marketing in return.
Lots of Americans have to have 2 jobs to pay the bills, not because there's too much jobs. If there were, wages would have increased.
And covid has been deadly to many groups, obesitas, diabetes and people with weak disposition.
It's this growth that's responsible for the issues, not demographics. We're literally curbed by environmental issues and the need to grow the financial system.
It's not jobs, with smaller demographics, you have less jobs aside healthcare. But healthcare is a joke in the US so that cannot be the problem.
The other joke is obviously globalism.
Also only the highest of the high can knock down 20+ joints in a day.
Which is a meaningless statement for any addictive substance over a period of time.
Both seller and consumer are caught in a spiral of increasing use due to gratification, it's not about character as the alcohol gene in Russians clearly proves.
And we know the social, health and financial consequences of addiction whether it's gambling, drinking, smoking, sugar or glue sniffing; it's destructive and deceptive.
"I always wondered, if we ever met an intelligent alien race, would they have discovered the same physics laws as we have, or might they describe the universe in a different way?"
Obviously this alien race would have some crude understanding of gravitation or mass/energy conversion to abduct humans.
Or maybe they were fed up with playing and created this large billiard table for us to live in.
We didn't even have the dinosaurs that far back. 500 million years ago, the mollusk was one of the more advanced life-forms on Earth. Even if aliens had wicked awesome antennas, if they were staring directly at us, they'd only be seeing those mollusks today.
Unless
They do have portable housing you know.
The data on the phone died with owners brain. Why can't any of those authoritarian thugs accept the concept?
Data doesn't die and there's nothing wrong with a phone search after obtaining a warrant from the judge, much as doing a house and/or financial background search.
If we were talking about authoritarian thugs this shooting probably wouldn't have happened in the first place.
The goal of Computer Science is to build something that will last at least until we've finished building it.
