If they are forced to, they will do what you are saying. Selling cars was only one part of the equation of manufacturing cars. Fixing cars with moving, mechanical parts was the other that keeps dealerships afloat. Electrical parts last much longer than the majority of mechanical parts if they aren't damaged in some way. Less wear and tear means the model of fixing or replacing mechanical parts means your dealers will have less servicing to do. Besides the suspension components, electrical cars do not have any where near the amount of moving parts ICE engine cars do. Tesla door handles are the most replaced/fixed item on Teslas for instance. That is due to poor design more than being mechanical though.
