Yes it does, but video games are different. Nobody downloads an "update" for their movie that removes scenes or disables it. That is where the Stop Killing Games movement really should focus. It should be illegal to send out a patch that neuters the game, then announce version 2 of the game is on sale for $50.

I would love for my devices to have their AI models local like Apple did. It is really annoying to say "Play song ABC" and even though ABC is a local file, my device goes to the cloud. But Apple gave customers privacy, security, and resiliency - and everyone complained that it took up space. So next time you want to complain that companies are requiring Internet connections for stuff that could be done locally, remember that someone tried and it was rejected.

I am sorry, but your comment is completely wrong.

"Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny" is a disproven theory. Human embryos do not have tails, chickens do not go through an embryonic stage where they have teeth. Your concept that this two-brain thing is a step in embryonic development is not what the article is saying.

Some years ago there was a very well-done and very popular drawing of human embryonic development showing a human going through evolutionary phases, and I too believed it for a while, but it was fantasy.

But with that said, this is basically what I do at home - run one locally for common tasks. I keep waiting for the local ones to achieve parity with the cloud versions, but RAM is so expensive because of the data centers, that I'm not sure it will happen before SkyNet launches the nukes.

I recently downgraded from Cable 800MB to starlink. Simply because for some reason at 2pm EVERY SINGLE DAY my ping times with charter would go from around 30/ms to 100-1000/ms and it lasted for a few hours. I work from home and that was unusable. The only other "broadband" available was starlink. So now I'm much slower in the 100-200MB range, but overall we haven't noticed much difference.

So I'd say, yeah, you don't have to go all the way up to gigabit to be considered broadband.

i was thinking something similar, then I realized that with a 25fps camera, it's made an entire rotation in the time the aperture was open. I was thinking more about taking pictures OF the drone. But if I was designing some automated machine to attack this thing, like another drone, putting a 120fps camera on it would give a decent picture of it. that's only about 1/5th of a rotation. Tracking software doesn't need to get a perfectly clear picture to track something.

Standard:

I still question what it does to the growing season though. While I can understand why Texas might have plenty of sunlight, New England is just on the cusp of having a growing season that is too short to be profitable. Some places are trying to grow tomatoes in the frost.
