I suppose there could be a solution by way of bringing the auditors and regulators also into a smart contract along with the transacting parties, but I haven't seen any so far and don't expect to in the near future.

Auditors, regulators, etc. are useless with crypto. If the crypto is in your account its yours, if not its not yours (you need to trust whoever owns the account). Today Binance may hold "your" crypto in the same token - but tomorrow it may be in some other token (or in some other account), there is nothing auditors or anyone else can do about it. Its the very nature of blockchains.

Its this stupid question that Microsoft asks when we try to login to any of their websites - is it your "work or school account" or "personal account"? Why is it so difficult for them to understand that it could be neither or both? and anyway none of their business - I always end up clicking one of them at random.
