I have an alternative idea: why not design an OS to fit in ROM. If a RTS multitasking OS could run comfortably from a 320KB disk with a 64KB load, then why not fit a modern OS in a 1 MB or so? Have we somehow lost the ability to write small?

kinda yeah. most programers now days are used to programing in much higher level languages using bulky frameworks rather than righting small fast efficient code.

SSNs are great as identification. Treating them as authentication as well is a mistake. Knowing the number doesn't prove you are its owner. Companies need to stop assuming otherwise.

they aren't even that great as a id number. the first three digits are based on region it was issued in thus dramatically limiting the pool of possible numbers, also some numbers and number ranges are reserved and not issued (numbers are issued where the forth and fith digit are 00, also the final quartet will never be 0000 they also wont issue a number with 666 in it, etc...) all of these together result in a small enough of a number pool that it requires numbers to be recycled so it no longer even a unique identifier.

Is this another price rise? My subscription is already going up by $20NZD later this month, which means that since April 2021 my Disney+ subscription will have risen by 50% over the original rate.

counter intuitively much of this was already on disney+ outside the US and the US market is the one playing catch-up.

Video and audio will not be something that can be trusted. At this rate it won't be too long before they won't be usable as evidence in the court of law once the technology is refined.

Everything will have to be in person to be trusted that it is actually being said by that person.

or we have camera and other video equipment cryptographicly sign their output so as to have chain of evidence to show no tampering.
