A citation is just a reference to an older piece of work. Nearly everyone cited in a paper has no connection to it, other than the fact that their past research was useful or relevant to points being made in the paper. If you mean reviewers past work shouldn't be on the citations list, that's often not very possible. I mean, you need an expert in the field to review the paper and such a person usually has a publication that your own paper relies on .. especially when publishing at the top tier level .. the reviewer needs to be top tier as well.

Conservatives are against anything that benefits anyone besides themselves. The justification is whatever they can think of. They were in favor of race-based selection .. "freedom of selecting employees" when it was blacks being discriminated against. Now that they feel the pendulum has swung the other way its "racist policies are wrong".

Done correctly, OF is a legit career path. While some may feel degraded doing it, other people actually like doing it. I'd do it if there was a demand for beer belly old people. It's not societal decay it's just entertainment like movies, sports, wresting, or magic shows. One could argue a civilization whose people watch a ball being tossed back and forth, instead of toiling on a farm, is societal decay .. I'd say it's a sign of advancement/evolution. A rich life, on top of Maslow's pyramid.

Why is a pound of rice (or any food, really) 4x cheaper in Asia than in the US?

I'll tell you why .. it's because we fucked ourselves on housing by mass blocking every developer from building new homes. Reference: https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newsweek.com%2Fsan-f... That in turn caused inflation. Housing became people's biggest expense. We don't want new housing units in our neighborhoods and cities. So we blocked them. The end result: Housing in most places that have jobs has become unaffordable to most people. The only solutions are drastic:

1. Ultra-tax or ban unoccupied housing
2. Grant every building permit without reading it.
