Fortunately, I never could stand the taste of just about any artificial sweetener so, despite my age and all that, I've stuck to plain sugar all the time.

The real blow to me in sodas was Coke and Pepsi discontinuing their sugar sweetened no caffeine drinks. This limits me to thinks like 7-UP, Sprite and ginger-ales. Although I've just thought that there are cola flavourings for DIY carbonated water dispensers. I'll have to look into that and see if they're loaded with artificial sweeteners. Most likely but, we'll see.

Polio is not yet gone. It still exists in pockets in the world. And the popular vaccine was a weakened strain that could sometimes mutate back into a full strength version.

Smallpox was a good call but it really was a more locked in design. Flu seems to be too mutable. I hope this really works but there's a ways to go before we write off flu as a threat any longer.

once you start using this new vaccine it will apply pressure to the virus to change that key structure as well. there have been and will be changes but they will be selected for success with the new vaccine. there are no universal vaccines and life, even debased forms like viruses, will find a way.

Yes, in the old days the ocean was considered an infinite sink. It seemed huge and endless to the people in the 17th, 18th, maybe even the 19th centuries.

I'm old, overweight, under active but, dang, I'll take good old sucrose over any of these artificial sweeteners any day.
And you cannot fool me into thinking that they taste just like sugar. They're sweet, sort of, but there's other things to the flavour that just aren't right.
