Actually most movie frames are rendered at 2048x1556 (2K) resolution. 4K is reserved for specific cases when the extra resolution is warranted. The data infrastructure requirements to do everything at 4K is just too much. And, at least in VFX, one might rather work on 2K than 4K, because more pixels == more work. Period.
