  • Real Men Use Opera [opera.com]

Friends don't let friends use inferior browsers.

    It's hot out today.
    • I have Opera installed as well, but I've yet to figure out how to set it up to connect through our firewall/proxy setup. I've not spent a lot of time on it, though. Any tips?
      • Tools... Preferences... Advanced Tab. On the left will be a bunch of selections in a list box - click on "Network" and there's a button to add proxy servers.

Opera 9.21 is so nice... Firefox 2.0 just crashed a lot for me.

        • Real men know how to use browsers without crashing them. :-)
          • Ironically enough, it was almost always while typing a post or a JE to slashdot that Firefox would crash. Sometimes, restoring the session would also recover *most* of the text I had typed.

So, that was annoying as hell, and made me give up on Firefox. That was at work, under Winblows, though.

The reason for the crash? Access violation. Real men can write code that doesn't dereference NULL pointers. Firefox developers apparently can't.

            • Real Soviet men write code in which NULL pointers deference YOU!

              Sorry, couldn't resist. :-)

Hmmm... That's funny - I've never had Firefox 2.0x crash on me and that's running on Windows XP and OS X. 1.5x was remarkably stable too for that matter. Opera seemed like a good idea, but it just isn't as easily customisable as Firefox. (Plus the Opera fanbois tend to overdo things with their rabid zealotry.)
  • Yay! I've missed it.

      That's funny. :-)

I really liked Firesomething, and am now posting this from Mozilla Turbootter.

A year or two ago, I had a problem with it though - I got bored with the small range of adjectives, so I added additional ones in the form of places. Meadow, Lake, Forest, Ocean, Desert, etc.

Yeah, it's pretty bad news when the title of your browser includes both "Jungle" and a cute name for a rodent with long ears, a small furry tail, and a penchant for hopping. Did I mention I had a co-worker standing over my
