Journal johndiii's Journal: [Beloved] [Original Poetry] Pen Cap, Diamond 2

A bit of whimsy, beloved...

Pen cap, diamond, catch my eye
Stranger things not seen have I
        Risking, apples, stacks of green
Divers mind has set this scene
        Six-sides, facet, pink-wings, grain
Knowledge does not spare me pain
        Pages, logo, moleskine, sack
Smell of coffee brings me back
        Green-leaves, gray-leaves, plastic lid
Love is written, love is said
        Shortbread, mermaid, book of poems
Wand'rers find their one true homes
        Water bending beams of light
Pray my love is safe tonight
        Leather, paper, empty chair
Would my love were sitting there
Ink on paper, cap on tight
Dream of me, my love, tonight.

                                -- 25-28 February 2007

...and there you are again. You grace my days, in divers ways... Thine.

Author's Note: This started as a bit of doggerel, a simple meditation on the objects sitting on the table in front of me. It became a little more than that. It is substantially the same as originally set down - one word was changed, and the couplets were rearranged. To me, the mood is very reminiscent of Infusions (posted last night), but with an admixture of whimsy.

(W00t! An Author's Note! Cool!!!) :-)

  • W00t! An Author's Note! Cool!!!

Is that like a bonus track?

It's very cute - I confess I have a certain weakness for doggerel in general.
  • I am such a sucker for author's notes. Someday when you are the first poet to turn a profit from your works that will be valuable;-) I must also say that I have noticed a bit more wimsy in your posts of late. Its nice.

It is much harder to find a job than to keep one.

Working...
