'Improvements to LinkedIn's detection systems have resulted in a 40% decline in views of content classified as AI slop, the platform said last month. That's not to say LinkedIn is entirely opposed to AI, Roth said, adding that "not everyone is a born communicator."'

YET -

'Roth said. "A lot of times now today, they'll run it through Claude or Gemini or wherever, they'll post it on LinkedIn and it will perform poorly. And then they come to the team and they're like, 'Why did this do badly?'" Roth said. "And the best thing you can do is give it back to them and be like, 'Did you enjoy reading this? Do you see yourself in this?"'

Essentialism is lame; people are born as a human. So participate. Learn to speak. Learn to read. Don't be illiterate. Don't be inmumerate. Rise above. Master yourself, and in so doing, emancipate yourself.

Use your self-awareness to improve and add to the palette of skills and abilities through your life.

It's not that hard. And I'm a programmer, so you *KNOW* I am the ultra-laziest in terms of applying time and space to problems (aka optimization!).

I get that different people have different priorities, but -- in the way that a radio transceiver is useful IF you know things like frequency, signalling mechanics, signalling protocol -- humans learn languages and use that to reason. To not develop your mind, is to throw away your greatest strength.

This year I was thrilled that he started blogging again, only to be shocked that even more terrible things have happened to him (heart attack, stroke and death of this son), and surprised that he was an ex-neighbour of and friends with Avram Miller, who writes an awesome blog I discovered to is year. Real science isn't that. Real science is a rational discipline. The null hypothesis -- know what that means. Prior art -- know what that means. I think you got the timeline wrong. IT work is technically easy to replace because a lot of their output can be achieved using APIs that usually already exist. The work itself may be more complex, but the integration isn't. But it's different for, say, a bookkeeper. They may have to deal with things like paper receipts, or do phone calls. You need to be able to digitize input and output for those jobs. That's the difficult and time-consuming part. But once you've done this, these jobs are far easier for a LLM to execute. That's why I think these jobs are even more at risk of being replace, but it will take years to digitize the whole pipeline.

Yeah, FM-synthesis sounds like a robot. The SNES SPC-7000 was wavetable. The Sega Genesis used a Z80 for FM synthesis. A GUS card was supperior to the SPC-7000.

If you want to know how good the music is, either run DOOM in DOSBOX with a correct GUS Wavetable patch set (which will let you know how *ACTUALLY GOOD* the music is). Alternatively, the Doom & Doom 2 remaster on Steam has an actual band covering the actual tracks. That also sounds awesome.
