Was the GPU a 7900? I had the same problem along with screen corruption. Solution was to remove the entire GPU unit and bake it in the oven for 20 mins at 450deg. The solder reflowed and it was OK again for another year. Was a really bad design.

The only real reason you would need this high of a DPI is if you strap the phone to your head and use it for VR purposes. Outside of that, I don't think you can see 4k of actual pixels.

We have seen this before with tons of mainstream devices, smartphones are no different. You have the incumbents designing and engineering something main stream while other manufacturers will come in and sell something similar with slightly less features for vastly lower costs. I think we are coming close to "peak smartphone development" where it's at the point they are good enough for almost everything we want them to do. I bought an SG 7 and quite frankly, it will be the last 800$ phone I ever buy. Nothing revolutionary, just iterative at this point. Apple and Samsung are at the top end of a saturated market. Really nowhere to go but down unless they are only interested in market share with lower end phones they can sell at lower costs. Not sure if this is the market they want to chase, especially Apple.

I have no problem with this type of scum getting some sort of jailtime. The question is, does the punishment fit the crime? I do not believe that this person will get anywhere near 105 years, especially if there are no priors. Before passing judgement, I think I will wait for a conviction. Nope. Same device, same hardware revision. Probably the most reliable thing in my basement. I use it for the decent QOS, bandwith history and as a failover WAP in case my wireless N unit loses power for whatever reason. I can't imagine tearing it apart to add IO headers for this kind of project though.

Sorry for answering so late in the game, but one of the main reasons to have dynamic ip's is so that the ISP does not have to keep (and pay for) large blocks of unused ip's. They oversell ip's like they do bandwith as they know not all of them will be in use 100% of the time. Ever wonder why some ISPs have ridiculously short lease times, sometimes on the order of 4 hours?
