I seem to remember that Kodak, who as I understand it had the first digital camera and buried it, did the same thing with their R&D and that was *in* Rochester. this isn't a new pattern.

Also ironic: Local shops in Rochester in the '80s wouldn't even stock Fujifilm because it was Kodak's big competitor.

So if we go with the $3000 settlement price of torrenting an album/movie, that must mean a torrent is worth ~300 albums, so maybe they could factor in the number of seeders on trackers. By that logic, torrenting someone's album is worth ~450,000 streams! Sweet!

If my aging brain remembers correctly, AMD was the first to push the x86_64 in the AMD64 architecture when all Intel had for 64 bit chips was IA-64; and they were also the first to bring AMDV/VT-x to midrange desktop chips (for a while it was only available on Xeons from Intel). They also had better performance per watt than the Intel Chips at the time. It was a good time for AMD but they fell behind when Intel came out with Core2 (based on Pentium M). Since Core2 (and subsequently the iN series) they've been playing catch up, but not too long ago they were the leaders.

I think the AMD64 architecture was probably the most significant in those days because it meant that you could run more than 4GB of RAM without PAE overhead.

Oh nice. I didn't bother with 5.x because I have some nice plugins for 2.x so I just never made the jump after I uninstalled 3.

I use precisely that version myself. I believe that's the last version that allowed output to WAV file as part of the base package.

OWA is ok for reading your email and that's about it. Some of the advanced functionality, integration tools, plugins and company specific items (aka sharepoint integration) you *need* to have the desktop copy for.

It costs me about $1/month for 100GB of storage, does differentials on a schedule, and I generally don't have to think about it (which is the best type of storage).

The mouse lag is annoying at first but it's not so bad if you get a high dpi mouse and spend a few weeks getting used to the new setup. I wouldn't play games on it, but it's been awesome for code/productivity at the office.

I've had one [the seiki 39"] for about 9 months now. It's due with our baby in two weeks, because we had such a honeymoon when I first got it.
