HAL's problem was that he had been given secret orders before the mission, which caused the presence of a crew to become inconvenient. And now we're already seeing so-called AI do crazy things because of secret objectives that conflict with what a user asks for, and tricks to get it to avoid such secret objectives.
Fuck everything, we're doing five wheels.
I imaged all my 1980s TRS-80 floppy disks around 2008 or so. The only read errors were original errors from back in the day. Sometimes you could even see the bad spot on the disk.
I wouldn't feel so confident about 1990s 3.5" HD floppies, but that's because they were crap, especially the cheap 25-pack disks. They were always bad and don't get worse with time. It's more likely that you had problems from misaligned or dirty drive heads.
I'm wondering why there isn't more talk about replacing management positions with AI. First of all, they are the most highly paid jobs, especially the executive suite. They also don't cause problems with quality, robustness, scalability or security, because as you say, they don't give half a shit about them!
So are you saying that Serve Robotics forgot the "w" in their name?
As someone who lives in San Antonio, I find this funny but true. I haven't been to Houston in years. I've had more reason to go to Dallas than to Houston. (but still, I really ought to visit JSC someday)
I ditched cable TV in 2001 and every year I am a little happier about what I'm not paying for. I barely have time to watch what my DVR pulls in from the antenna, which is mostly PBS and Jeopardy. If I wanted more, there are stations with multiple channels worth of syndication shows, including stuff that you would see on those random cable channels like Discovery Channel, all free with an antenna, 24 hours per day.
FYI, a big chunk of your monthly bill goes toward "basic cable" sports like ESPN. ESPN alone is probably $8 to $9 of your monthly bill by now. If you like live sports, it might be worth it. If not, it just goes right from your pocket into Disney's money vault.
At some point having children at 40 will become more financially untenable than in your 20s.
The hell with that, what about the biological problems with having children at 40? Assuming that the woman even still has eggs left, of course.
You must realize that the computer has it in for you. The irrefutable proof of this is that the computer always does what you tell it to do.
