What asus board? I've got an asus crosshair iv formula and the usb3 has been working fine in both 9.2 and 9.3. The aibs driver doesn't support this board yet though.

as for security updates:
freebsd-update fetch; freebsd-update install

and port updates:
portsnap fetch update; portmaster -gda

So not sure what the issues are here.

Latest Humble Bundle Supports Open Source GameDev Tools 29

lars_doucet (2853771) writes "The latest Humble Weekly Bundle is titled 'Celebrating Open Source,' and features eight indie games, with charity going to the open source tools used to develop them. The open-source programming language Haxe is strongly represented: three of the charities include the Haxe Foundation, itself OpenFL (recently featured on Slashdot), and FlashDevelop, the most popular open-source Haxe/ActionScript IDE. The fourth is Ren'Py, the Python-based visual novel engine used in award-winning games like Long Live the Queen and Analogue: A Hate Story.

The games themselves are Magical Diary, NEO Scavenger, Offspring Fling!, Planet Stronghold, and for those who pay $6 or more, Anodyne, Defender's Quest, Evoland, and Incredipede, as well as 6 soundtracks. 7 of the 8 games are cross-platform across Mac/Win/Linux, and all are DRM-free."

Researchers Claim Facebook Is 'Dead and Buried' To Many Young Users 457

JoeyRox writes "The recent decline in Facebook's popularity with teenagers appears to be worsening. A Global Social Media Impact study of 16 to 18 year olds found that many considered the site 'uncool' and keep their profiles alive only to keep in touch with older relatives, for whom the site remains popular. Researches say teens have switched to using WhatsApp, Snapchat, and Twitter in place of Facebook."

What Would It Cost To Build a Windows Version of the Pricey New Mac Pro? 804

zacharye writes "The new Mac Pro is the most powerful and flexible computer Apple has ever created, and it's also extremely expensive — or is it? With a price tag that can climb up around $10,000, Apple's latest enterprise workhorse clearly isn't cheap. For businesses with a need for all that muscle, however, is that steep price justifiable or is there a premium 'Apple tax' that companies will have to pay? Shortly after the new Mac Pro was finally made available for purchase last week, one PC enthusiast set out to answer that question and in order to do so, he asked another one: How much would it cost to build a comparable Windows 8 machine?"

Yeah I used to love the Mad Libs game, and the choose your own adventure games on there. Had to be careful because some of them charged money, and I wasn't allowed to use any that did.

There was a little icon at the bottom of the screen (This was before multitasking computing. The prodigy application ran in DOS and took up the whole screen.) that told you how much you were being charged at the moment. Some of them charged by number of page loads, and some actually charged based on the time you spent on the page.

My mom used it for email, and was on a bbs.
