Comment Re:version of java matter? (Score 1) 248

It's javascript not java, so your browser version matters, something with a JIT compiler from the last 6 months will probably be able to display it at 30+fps (except Chrome, it doesn't render at all in either current or beta).

Ahh, gotcha. Yea my RHEL5 system is running Firefox 3, my WinXP box is running Firefox 4.

Comment version of java matter? (Score 1) 248

I loaded this up on my home server and tried it from two different systems.

System 1 - RHEL5 8 cpu 48g RAM - Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_20 - 7-8fps
System 2 - WinXP 1 C2D cpu, 4g RAM - Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U22 - 35-45fps
System 2 wins. Graphics card unimportant as this isn't a 3D accellerated application. Not sure why the discrepancy is what it is, but whatever.

Sound does suck.

ASCAP is as evil as the RIAA.

Hardly. ASCAP serves a very, very useful purpose. They protect the small guy from having their songs ripped off, mostly by the RIAA. If you put together a track of two trash cans banging together to a beat and get it registered with ASCAP, and ASCAP finds out that someone (be it bar owner, RIAA or any other band) is using that track in live performances, they will battle for you to get your licensing fees.

ASCAP is usually just the messenger. They don't normally go around trying to find songs being performed that are not in the public domain, they are usually tipped off about it by someone claiming they are owed licensing fees.

In this particular case, I wouldn't be surprised if the RIAA were involved as the person "tipping them off".

If you don't update your software and buy one of their latest games you're REQUIRED to update to the latest version of their firmware. You don't exactly have a choice.

Unless you just wanted to never buy a new game ever again for the Wii.

Super Mario Galaxy included a new version of the v3 menu I had to install before I could play it.

Your argument fails.

For the love of all that is holy, a knock-off of a clearly copyrighted video game is NOT piracy, it is copyright infringement.

Is this a hard concept to grasp for you?

Piracy is downloading and playing a game that is sold in stores without purchasing the game or any other software in question. Sheesh. I am getting stabby just reading your replies.
