Comment Boot Gamp. (Score 1) 104

A Gamp is a sloppily tied up umbrella. Like Slashdot's spelling. Regarding simple typos - one thing AI coding is very good at is finding logic issues and typos such as this.. I'm sure many of us have spent countless hours finding relatively simple mistakes in code. Although AI is scary especially to "nuts and bolts" junior coding, I can't shake the feeling that this is a good thing - I wish I could have had those countless hours back to do more productive things.

Comment TRON and BASIC and Bill gates (Score 1) 77

The last programming project from Bill Gates was microsoft basic for the trs 80 computer.

I remember the movie TRON coming out - On my TRS80 - TRON was a BASIC command - TRACE ON ... to debug code and see what line number was running. Made me smile knowlingly as a baby nerd. The stop command - TROFF hasn't been made into a movie...yet.

I had my folks send my Tandy TRS80 COCO away to a factory for a BIOS update just to get the RENUM command, which would modify the line numbers to get you more sweet sweet middle-line numbers... which was needed if you needed more than 9 numbers between 10 "print hello" and 20 goto 10... (and you weren't forward thinking enough to make bigger numbers initially, or write spaghetti code to jump around)

Without paying millions raising kids, they won't need subsdies, they will have as many gold plated butler-robots as they like (or a legion of paid helpers I guess, who then pay taxes, if youre boring). Its only the forced-poor of the mass multi-breeders who need the subsidization. I guess future taxes subsidising the climate disaster if you DO have kids would be ok too. I love my quest 3 and use it all the time with my pc wirelessly. (And not just for games - great for movies and productivity with three massive virtual screens -great for coding).. I couldnt imagine having to go back to "Cabled" VR like the PSVR2. Since I purchased mine, Three friends also have got one... I feel that Quest 3 may be the breakthrough headset VR has needed. It's cheap, and "just works" wirelessly over wifi. (And now doesn't need facebook accounts - win!)

Comment Re:I have to thank UNITY (Score 1) 45

I'm enjoying it - but I'm mostly dabbling in 2d - has everything I need there. I did some stress tests and find sprite generation FASTER than unity - probably because there's less overhead. I'd say 80% of it is "oh that's nice" and 20% "what the hell were they thinking?". The built in physics is ok, but there's already plugins for stuff like box2d and JOLT for 3d Their built in language is easy to use - GDSCRIPT - I find it ... Pythonesque - but you can do C# as well - but that's splitting the community a little. It's really having a windfall of support right now - UNITY wins with it's third party tool support, but man, there's a lot of stuff appearing for GODOT daily at the moment. (Probably from UNITY developers moving over)
