If it has a card reader, I can probably get away with 1. If it doesn't, 2. I no longer need a USB port for a 3G modem, portable wifi hot spots are more convenient for multiple devices, but they do need charging.

Don't do anything on a work machine you wouldn't do if it was being shown on a 50" TV above your head. They actually have a white list of sites that they 'trust' and do not do MITM - banks mainly, but a search on Google defaulting to HTTPS is not secure.

I have used www.priceusa.com.au to purchase quite a range of items. Clothing, Amazon items, electronics. Never had any issues. They are always fast to respond to inquires. They order the goods, which are delivered to an address in the USA, then shipped to you. A lot of friends use ComGateway to purchase items from Amazon and a few other places.

I have significantly more storage on spinning media, 10TB vs 1TB of SSD. But the Spinning media is archival, and just sits there. My OS and programs are installed on an SSD, my laptop only has an SSD, but my media library exists on spinning media.

Speaking to friends who work and live in China it really isn't that hard to get around the GFW. China are using it to keep the masses controlled and limit their access, but at the same time, leaving it easy enough to get around that the "elite" are still able to use the Internet to its full potential. Making it possible for large companies to compete globally.

Designated Asia-America Gateway (AAG), the project will involve a consortium of 17 international telcos, including AT&T Inc, India's Bharti AirTel, BT Global Network Services, CAT Telekom (Thailand), Eastern Telecommunications Philippines Inc (Philippines), Indosat (Indonesia) and Pacific Communications Pte Ltd (Cambodia). Led by Telekom Malaysia Berhad, the project is slated for completion in 2008, where 20,000km of cables will be providing a capacity of up to 1.92 Terabits per second of data bandwidth.

Interestingly, the fibre-optic cable system will be taking "a different route from many existing cables to avoid quake-prone areas and a repeat of the disruption to Asian web access caused by a tremor off Taiwan four months ago."

Will this then see a rise in the amount of spam/virus/viagra coming out of the region?

Yeah, Wiimotes aren't the only motion-sensing game controllers that can be hacked for fruitless new uses. Take the new SIXAXIS Linux integration project, which, so far as we can tell, is an incredibly effective means for maneuvering small, custom robots in need of a good 3D controller for manipulating, um, a small flat plane. We have a feeling this won't be the last we've heard of this little project. Video after the break.

The question tonight was asked, "How many of you, in your adult lifetime, have had a gun in the house?"

Edwards did not raise his hand.

But we know that Edwards has Secret Service agents at his home, and presumably at some point, one of them has been inside his house. And even if not this time around (yet), surely they were when he was the Vice Presidential nominee.
