Amazon has the capital and opportunity right now to expand their distribution and remedy this flaw. They can literally just start buying up old Toys R Us and empty Sears spaces as smaller distribution points. If they do drive-up delivery exclusively they don't even need to make it look nice inside at first. The place can be turning a profit as they fit it out to be a Whole Foods.

Excep that more money with increased expectations per hour is a reduction in working conditions. Reduced hours also removes benefits such as vacation and health care. Glad I could educate you.
Well, there's no reason to expect that the Whole Foods operation should have to pay for the opex of the core business. In fact, Amazon is so big and profitable that the should have been able to pay for that wage increas outb of their profit margin.

And seriously, why not just use less loaded terms like Client and Server? Or Active, Backup, and Passive? Certainly there are more technically descriptive words than master and slave.

I noticed this years ago in indutrial controllers. It was an easy change to make in documentation. Just call something a "Primary" if it's top level. "Backup" if it's a primary failover. "Passive" if it can't operate independently. Remember, not everything is a reflection on hjumans working with it.

I genuinely feel that their big mistake was shoehorning a streaming video codec into the Flash player. As you said it was a great idea to have an interactive, cross-platform, scriptable, vector graphics player with server side support. Adobe screwed up by overreaching the plugin's scope and not focusing on the server.
