Journal Journal: today.
today is my best friend's birthday. she is 16. naturally, she got her license in the morning and drove the truck she got to school. sure, her two older sisters also drove that truck when they were in high school and sure its not that new. but she still got something. today was pretty cool. in the morning i decorated her locker and she checked in late and we had cookies and king cake and all kinda shit during break. at lunch, one of the few decent teachers we have went get a couple of us lunch from Canes, whcih was pretty cool. we ate in her class. going out to lunch is aggravating, i'd rather stay inside with the rest of the people who would agree with me on the lunch topic. tonight we are going with a couple of people to eat at Chili's and then back to her house to sleep. we'll probably watch fight club and the allusionist...idk i think thats the ones they wanna watch. anyway.
i am currently at the end of Jon Katz's book Geeks and i am loving it. we had to read a non fiction book for school and i was in the library the day we had to have our books trying to find something that would catch my eye. then i saw this bright green book in the middle of a book about Adolf Hitler and something about machinary. i read the title and turned over the back to find a short definition of a geek given by Katz. at the very end it said "Definitons involving chicken heads no longer apply." this is what caught my eye. because last year my teacher made a comment on the definition of a geek being one who bites heads off chickens. so i figured even if she didn't like the book i picked, she'd at least appreciate the humor.
but as for the storyline of the book i absolutly love it. i have friends that remind me exactly of Jesse and Eric. there is even a certain math teacher who's class they always go to(and i have recently started going to) during lunch and it reminds me of Mr. Brown from the story. i just think its so cool how one person can change your life so much like Katz and Jesse. also, today i got a letter from the University of Chicago, where Jesse wanted to go in the book, which was ironic because i was trying to finish my book today in geometry while everyone else took their test (i took mine yesterday). see, we gave book talks in class and i did mine thursady, but i still havent' finished the book yet.
in fact, that is how i heard of slashdot.org in the first place, because i know Katz used it to connect with thousands of people when he was on the topics of Colombine and using hellsmouth i think it is called?
anyway, my friends are almost here for us to go eat at Chili's and i have to go change. i have really enjoyed typing in this journal. we have this journal at school and i hate writing in it because even though our teacher says she reads it, i know she really doesn't and i really want my thoughts to be read. i like writing but i want what i write to acutally be read sometimes. hell, i bet no one will even read this. but at least i can pretend that someone will to make myself feel better.
-peace.
